On a plateau three hours on the outskirts, is created a wild, nature-fueled vacation home for a family surrounded by mountains & a waterbody. Celebrating the flat & rugged environs, a facade of red, broken brick with warm concrete & wood interiors forms the entire structure where the brick almost completely encases the house. The structure takes inspiration from architect Laurie Baker, & uses techniques like rat-trap bonds brickwork, filler slabs, brick jalis, brick arches, built-in furniture & use of local material. These proved low cost & eco-friendly technologies, allowing this family home to be constructed in low cost due to reduced requirement of steel & cement.
